Teacher, do whatever we ask

In today’s Gospel, we see

    The Sons of Zebedee

go say to Jesus

“Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask of you.”

This is like walking up to your parents and saying “I’ve gotta tell you something but you can’t get mad.” It shows a huge lack of trust from James and John. “God, we are smarter than you so take our suggestion”. What do you think Jesus’ expression was then? I’m sure he had a look of exasperation.

How often do we approach God the same way? We have our plans and we just want God to approve them. But we don’t understand that Gods plans are so much better than ours. We, like James and John, need to trust that God knows what’s best.

What about y’all? What stood out at mass today?

With His Grace
-Blessed One
